"The Ladder is Me." A powerful creation by artist Tom Shmueli, inspired by Jacob's dream and inviting a connection between heaven and earth within the soul. The iron sculpture, at an impressive height of 57 cm, is an engraved reminder of our ability to move freely between thoughts and emotions, and to choose every moment anew to be present in the highest and most alive place there is - this moment.

The ladder is a ladder that helps me climb to this moment, to be in this moment, here and now — because it is the highest place that exists and the most alive that exists.

A ladder is actually something I need to safely reach a high place, higher than I have reached. Like, for example, climbing a ladder to pick fruit that is growing high. And also to get down to the ground from a high place I am stuck in — for example, when I am on a roof or at the top of a tree and I have no way to get down, I need someone to lay down a ladder for me to get down.

Many times I climb a tree that is too high, even in my mind, and I am not willing to come down, nor do I find how and where to get down from the tree I climbed. And sometimes I am not even willing to admit that I climbed a tree that is too high. Maybe that is when I need a special ladder, a curved one like this, to get down.

A ladder is placed on earth and its top reaches to heaven.

What is it? It is a parable for a person. A person on earth, a person who tries and wants and returns and wants again. The ladder allows him to move, allows all his feelings and thoughts to go up and down and up. The ladder is me.

A ladder that can connect me with the infinite part of me, even when I am in a low, hard, and dark place, and even when I feel smug and torn and as if I have arrived somewhere. The moment I accept that I am a ladder that connects the sky within me with the ground of my life, and that I am not something static and stuck —

So even when meeting people around me, I don't connect them to me or make them rely on outsiders, but on themselves. On the scale that they are, and on the fact that there is a living divine spark within them — a spark that descends and is found even in the lowest places, and it is possible to move and act with it right now.

Each one is a special and new scale in the world.
